09 2.2 Engine Vibrating at Idle
#11
I saw on another post on the Exh & Int Sols and it mentioned (not specificly) that the part number was changed due to a recall on the Equinox's. Does anyone know the actual recall, why, and the new part numbers and can tell me before I take the HHR to the Dealer Thurs morn? Also would it be prudent to try and have them also replace the Int Sol even though a code has not shown for the Int only the Exh?

Here's a link on the Equinox recall for you, as to whether the dealer will go ahead and replace the intake cam solenoid is something you should discuss with the service manager.

They might do it as a goodwill gesture under warranty for you.

I believe the recall was RECALL 11195
Part numbers:
12628348 - Exhaust cam solenoid -- new # = 12646784
12628347 - Intake cam solenoid -- new # = 12646783
Doubt if they will replace both - they only go one at a time - the other one could last forever.
Quote from web re: one person's experience with their Equinox:
RECALL 11195. Under this recall, your problem WILL be fixed. They will replace the cam phase solenoid valves, most commonly called the solenoids (however, everyone seems to call them by a different name) AND they will update the ECM with new software. These two things MUST be done at the SAME TIME. The new solenoids can NOT be replaced and the ECM NOT be updated at the same time. The new software changes the way that the cam shaft operates, and without this new software, the new solenoids WILL definitely fail again. So, double check your work order before you leave to verify that they have performed both. The solenoids are on short supply, so they may have to order these parts and schedule the service appointment for a week or so later.
How much truth there is in that requirement for the ECM update I do not know - speak to your dealer about it.
ps: a search engine is your friend - ie: search for Equinox and RECALL 11195

Took the HHR in Thursday. Called the service guy for an update-he was waiting for a tech to be freed up instead of just using a parts changer. I told him he can keep the HHR till Friday if it means the vehicle gets fixed right the first time. He was surprised I offered to have him keep it for another day-guess most customers go crazy on him otherwise. I am also lucky enough that I have an extra vehicle to use to get to work.
Friday came and the Service Guy said his Tech looked at it and found a bulletin on the problem which states to change both Solenoids out, not just the one that goes bad (which is what I was hoping anyway). Only problem is (around here anyway) the parts are listed as back ordered and should be in early next week. He had me take the HHR home because he was afraid it might get damaged in the lot. No problems-I live about 2 miles away and rather have it in my driveway anyway. They cleared the code and it drove OK with the exception of the engine vibration on idle.
Will update hopefully next week. I will get the part numbers and hopefully get the bulletin that he referenced.

Parts had come in and HHR repaired yesterday.
Parts indeed were listed as 12646783 & 12646784. vehicle runs pretty good with new sol valves and a Performance "Relearn" that had to be completed with the installation. I had taken my info as well as the info from the site in with me when I first went in. Don the service guy was receptive to the info especially because he remembered me with the info I had brought in from when my Air Bag light issue happened. Any time you bring info just make sure you did your homework and act professional and it should be received well.
Robert Chevrolet's Service department, Manager, and Service guy Don, were great.
When I got home I took off the throttle body and did a good cleaning-it needed it. Only thing was my wife looked at me kinda funny when I took my toothbrush outside. (And yes wiseguys, I have a new toothbrush to replace it).

My car 2011 just has 27,000 miles, and the motor develop vibration at idle in park & idle in gear and when AC on.
When RPM over 15K I can't feel any vibration even AC on, but when the car not moving the vibration comeback. No code.
I read allot about the vibrations in this forum and tried to look and check every where but no result for this issue, even I change the Exhaust and Intake cam solenoids...
Any help will Appreciated.
