Engine vibration/noise at idle (parked) and while driving

Anyone out there have issues with loud idling (not the normal LNF cluncking/cold start up noises) getting louder with increased rpm's, vibrating back through the pedal and steering wheel. My car sounds like the exhaust fell off (not quite that loud but you get the picture). 2008 HHR ss manual 75,000 miles, no mods, no codes thrown. Started this morning on my drive in to work, still doing it when i checked at lunchtime.

U have this thread posted twice..check your flex pipe just behind eng..they will leak with no visible damage....if you rag the tailpipe and listen up front it will be right noticeable..and then change out the upper motor mount ( use urethane ) to decrease eng rocking so the flex pipe isnt moving around as much.
And dont go to dealer...use a decent muffler shop...much easier on the wallet.

Howdy Clevelandhhr. Long time no see. I agree with checking the flex pipe.

Note: merged the duplicate threads.

@Clevelandhhrss, curiosity is getting the best of me; what was the culprit?

Do you use soapy water with the rag to detect a leak?

No..rag goes over tailpipe tip..it pressurizes the exhaust so any leaks will be pronounced..it'll hiss quite noticeably...
