Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
I'm not sure but "they said test" it looks to me that they just check the codes on their computers or what ever they do to check the systems. But that what I thought to my self that the engine was running if we had ac. But yes the power steering light has been coming off and on (since we got the starter put in). That when the car starts jerking and the locks do their crazy thing. The person never got a chance to touch the fuse box it self (before the rain started/no garage ). later when I wanted to go to the store it wouldnt start SORRY DIDNT mean the codes i meant the light for the pw.steering and the engine light comes on as well . I forgot that in the last post.
The garage said the vechile needed the fusebox replaced and harness connection was causing issues . But they only changed the fuses box.
SO what it. boils down to it still jerking, speedo jumping, powersteering light and enginge lights on and locks
.doing their issues9lock un lock) .
SOrry about the post, it been pretty hecked here and let me start over for ya.
We got the new starter in feb.
then we had to replace the fuse for power steering because the warning light came on as they do .(no big deal)
took in April to get the car inspected/passed everything (but needed brakes and had the oil and fluids done also),
with in a few days it started the lock issues and the warning lights (pw steering /check engine). It only did it once and a while .
SO when it started last week being almost everyday I figured I check the fuse for power steerin (changed it out) work for a little bit and went right back to the light being on.
We had a friend that worked on vechiles come up and was to look at the fuse box and we disconnect the (neg-) post . the weather turn bad so he didnt even attempt to touch the fuse box
and rehooked the battery. Took it to the auto supply store and the battery was fully charged. So the friend just called the tow truck and towed it to the garage nearest to us(the friend lived out of state so could fix it had to go back, the friend thought it was just the fuse box and possible steering wheel/ignition issue )Like i said i had ac, lights, radio .
I hope that make more sense.
SO the garage it was towed to, did the code(or as they put ran the test) and the codes were;
po443
p2101
p1682
uc101(tcm lost connection)
Alarm codes:
13055
133060
Then they came to the conclusion it was the fuse box. The car now runs but it still doing the same issue it did before the car went into the garage.
After it was in there for the week and they didnt fix the main problem we brought it home .
It actually worst .So we are just trying to see what any one suggests .it has 155,000+ miles on it (2006)Before putting any more $$$ into it.
All the recalls are supposely done on it(and only one key for the car .it was bought used and they only had the one key)
Third, Are you aware that the battery is in the back near the spare tire? The black box under the hood is the fuse box.
These are things that I would check:
On the starter there is a large red wire, make sure it is tightly attached and there is another wire that goes to the alternator on the same connection.
On the fuse box there are 2 outside connections. The one toward the front of the car should be tight and have 2 wires attached, 1 goes to the starter and 1 goes to the battery. The one closer to the windshield should only have 1 wire, it goes to the power steering motor.
Has the car been jump started? Where were the cables attached. There are special instructions in the Owner Manual (there is a link in my sig to get one).
Was the air filter checked or replaced when you had the oil changed?
Yes ,I am aware of the battery in the back of the car and yes the i know where the fuse box is.
I did check all the recalls and that what I was thinkin it was one of the special warranties.
Yes a jump was attempted by under the hood and it didn't start .
Im not sure if the air fliters were checked or replaced.Honestly ,I didnt even think about that.(oops, i usually check that).
I 'll check the wiring out in the am as well as the filters. I think I'll be calling the dealership as well to see if they can get this fixed.
Thank you.
The reason I asked about the jump start is that most people attach the negative cable to the power steering lug instead of the nut on the strut tower. The minimum damage that causes is a blown power steering fuse, sometimes it kills the car.
The reason I asked about the air filter is that to do it you have to disconnect the MAF sensor, may folks forget to re plug it or don't get it fully plugged in.
I hope I didnt come off as stand offish but I understand that and only do that at a minimum knowing I would have to replace the fuse(which,I keep them on hand anyways) Yea that true with the MAF .I check these out in the AM (if it not raining) . I update the post .Thanks for make me feel like i wasnt crazy with thinking it could be covered under the special warranties ,which i kept hinting at to the mechanics to look into.:)
Cool finally got a chance to get under the hood to check things out y
Sorry about not giving any follow-ups but it been crazy around here and rainy. So, I got to check under the hood this Tues(6/27)and here what I found so far for under the hood.
the first thing is the picture with the cable/connector disconnect from the MAF. and the hose to the air filter did not attach to the side of the vehicle, so I reattached these two things.
Then checking the wire to the starter was fine but I saw a wire just underneath the oil filter either off or broken(which I don't remember seeing it before).
The locks are still intermitting, and power steering /check engine light stays on. Hopefully can get to fix here soon.
Would the MAF(hope that right) being off for that long of time mess everything up?
if the picture dont show up let me please.
