2006 hhr LT issues
I have used this site for years but never joined as I usually found my answers just browsing,
482000 miles on my baby. plenty of issues over the years but no car notes for a long time so i fix and keep rolling.
My latest issue started when a car wash ripped off the antenna, I replaced the antenna base and the antenna but my xm did not come back on.
I was using this as an excuse to upgrade to a touch screen with back up camera and dash cam. However , when best buy put everything in , they say the unit powers up for a second and then goes out with no power.
They think the standard aftermarket kits they would use are not matching up with the power connections.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd find an installer that does it exclusively. When you have a place like Best Buy doing this kind of work they get lucky or they throw their hands in the air. They have no way of troubleshooting it. They may have installed it wrong.

I suggest you have a look at the Crutchfield website! They have a trouble shooting area. Yes it could be the XM receiver is damaged from the water . But it could be BestBuy wasn’t the best choice!

Just to clarify, the XM antenna is the rear antenna. Is that the one that broke?
Also, there are many variations of the rear antenna. Some are XM, some are not. Which part number did you install? (If it was even the rear that was replaced)

The XM antenna is in the rear. The radio antenna is in the front.
The radio antenna has an amplifier in the inner side of the base. That is powered by the Pink wire from the radio. That wire also turns the power amp on (if you have one). I suspect they thought the pink wire was something else and hooked it up wrong. If these guys are professionals they should be able to RTFM for themselves. All of those adapters have instructions. Maybe they thought they were working on a PTCruiser.

Yes. From the last few comments, we’re back to getting expert help, aren’t we. I can say from experience that with car audio it’s the installer, not the company. Inquire about the reputation of the person not the name on the door.

I replaced the front antenna. i just received the rear antenna and plan on changing it out on my next off cycle.
