2006 HHR Problem but no engine light
I love my 2006 LT. It's been good to me. Got 146,000 miles now. This morning it was hard to start and after it would start it had no acceleration power. Idles really rough. No engine light yet. I've had suggestions of fuel pump, battery issue, and catalytic converter. I'll get it to my mechanic but he is being slammed with the normal summer repairs and cannot get to me for a couple of days.
Is there anything anyone can think of that I can check out in the mean time?
Thanks

checking the battery and fuel pressure would be a good start. You say it was hard to start?? In what way? did the starter turn it over quickly or slowly before it started (slow would point to the battery)?
When was the last time new plugs were installed? and was anything recently changed/fixed/adjusted?
Without a check engine light code it's pretty hard to pinpoint a definitive cause - you might want to try driving it a bit around the home neighbourhood to see if a code will pop up (they won't necessarily pop up immediately).

I appreciate the response. Normally I trun the key and it starts. Today had to hold the key in the start position for 4-5 seconds as it cranked. First I thought battery since I think it still has the original. But it then idled very rough and gave me no acceleration when I pressed the pedal. Had to kind of feather the pedal to get any action. Unfortunately I had to get to work at that time and couldn't diagnose more.
I appreciate any thoughts.

One of the steps from the repair manual:
10. Ignition ON, command the fuel pump ON with a scan tool. The fuel pressure should be
between 345-414 kPa (50-60 psi).
If the fuel pressure is not within the specified range, refer to Fuel System Diagnosis
