Just can't say it enough. 😇
I APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP GUYS 🙏🏽😇👍
Was only trying to explain that the light does what it's supposed to when prompted ... Wife says I talk to much 🤣
Yes. Compressor comes on when prompted.
Everything worked a couple days ago so I put everything back together.
Intermittent issue.
No burnt wires, fuses etc.
checked the grounding locations mentioned, kick panel drivers side.
New switch was way cheaper than a new unit.
Fan motor worked when I jumped and again on all settings the other day.
Are you thinking the fan motor itself might be the culprit?
What the heck does " I jumped " mean? If it means that you applied 12 volts to ANY of the leads on the switch you probably fried a ground wire. Once again THERE ARE NO POWER WIRES ON THE SWITCH; it switches ground. (that is PERIOD). Power gets to the fan motor directly from the fuse box (the brown wire on the motor) the Orange wire on the motor goes to the resistor pack then to ground via the switch..
THE ONLY CONNECTION ON THE SWITCH ARE GROUND. If the motor runs when the Orange wire and the Black wire on the switch are connected (key on) the switch is bad; That bypasses the switch and the resistor for a direct path to ground. A bad/missing resistor pac results in the fan running on high only, not failure to run.
There have been instances of the splice (J203 on the schematic) was bad; evidently from people messing with wires while replacing the fan or installing after market electronics.
Sorry for not knowing the correct verbiage and frustrating you all with my lack of knowledge. AGAIN thank you for your help as I believe "WE" 🤣🤣...You all helped me find the problem. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Just to clarify earlier comments.
No after market devices or wiring has been installed.
I did NOT run 12v to the switch (jump)
I did however run 12v and ground to the fan a week or two ago and the fan worked but still not through the switch.
After it sat for a couple days, it miraculously worked on all settings.
Put the dash etc. back together and the fan switch did not work on any speed settings.
Today I installed the new switch and still had no fan speeds working. As I anticipated it would.
tested the plug to the fan motor.
Brown wire lights up my tester when using the Orange wire as ground.
Ran 12v and ground to the fan again and it did not work.
So I'm assuming the intermittent issue is the motor itself.
I'm going to jiggle and slap around a few things, let it sit over night and test the motor again.
OH YEAH and start looking for a new fan motor.
Unless you guys have other suggestions?
Thanks AGAIN,
ET
I wrote a huge post with detailed troubleshooting. It disappeared!
Second try:
The ORANGE wire is the motor ground.
The BROWN wire is always hot when the key is on.
The BLACK wire goes directly to ground.
If the fan runs but on high only the resistor pack is bad.
Check the motor by connecting the ORANGE and the BLACK wires at the switch. That bypasses the switch and the resistor pack.
Check the switch by removing it from all connections. Set your VOM to Ohms/resistance, attach one probe to the pin that had the BLACK wire, ignore the red/black. put the other probe on any other pin and rotate the switch through the various settings; you should get a resistance reading on one setting and OL on all others. Then repeat on each pin.
If you only have a test light: leave the BLACK wire attached to the switch, put your red lead on 12 volts; put the black lead on the terminals etc. It should light on 1 setting on each pin.
Switched out the fan motor this morning and all the controls worked.
All fan speeds work etc.
Took it out for test drive.
NO COLD AIR....🤬🤬
Compressor is not engaging
It was working and cold before the fan stopped working.
Fuses still test good.
My brain hurts 🤣🤣
pretty sure I plugged everything back in.
Any thoughts guys ?
I changed out the battery while I was doing all this work. Can't imagine that would cause this.

Reason: Add information
So last night I tested the wires to the AC compressor, nothing.
I have replaced the fan motor which was bad, the fan switch, the relays, modules and all fuses.
last night I also swapped the diodes 9/58 under hood.
Is it possible the new control module by the fan motor is bad?
