2007 HHR AC Issue
2007 HHR AC Issue
Hi, my husband replaced and recharged the AC compressor in his 2007 HHR, he found a leak and thought that would fix the AC blowing hot. It has not, the air still blows hot, any suggestions? He was driving along in the Las Vegas sunshine, the temp gauge in the duct was reading 40 degrees, then everything went hot....
The cooling fan near the radiator still engages, the coolant temp is still reading a decent degree range, highest read was 214 degrees.
Any suggestions, the shop manual just makes both our heads spin....so many variables. He's been out of work so we are trying to avoid the dealership...
Thanks,

So he replaced the compressor, recharged the freon. Did he reset the computer by disconnecting the battery negative in the trunk? You mention the temp 214 degrees do you mean the coolant gauge? Perhaps changing the Thermostat is in order it should be
Lower at 180 to 195 trial and error I suggest the battery disconnect first

Without knowing the compressor readings after the work was completed, kind of hard to attempt a guess.
Ask your husband what the gauges were reading after pulling the vacuum and recharging with freon.
