2007 HHR "Clicking" sound when shifting...
Ok, so recently I've started driving with the windows down cause the weather has been amazing. About two weeks ago, I started hearing a distinct "click" sound when I pushed on the gas to move after shifting either from reverse to drive or vise versa. This also happens when shifting from park to drive or reverse and only happens after I shift AND put pressure on the gas.
My car used to never do that and I've driven with the windows down before. This is now happening with every shift.
At first I thought it was just my car, but last week I had to turn it in for body repair because a plastic container tried to run me off the road and I couldn't miss hitting it. My insurance covered my rental car and guess what it was?
My rental is a 2010 Chevy HHR, same color too, lol. And it's doing the exact same thing that mine just started... It makes a "click" sound just like mine when shifting and pushing on the gas.
Is this an HHR thing in general and is this serious?? I mean.. what are the ODDS of two random HHR's having the same issue like this?
No other clicking sounds happen after I start moving...

One of many threads that exist here........

Mine produces a "click" when backing out of my driveway (of course I would have just shifted from park to reverse) The sound happens when I hit the gas to actually back out, not when it starts to move, or during the shift...... Once or twice it has also happened after shifting into drive and hitting the gas after backing into the road. (no park involved there) It doesn't seem to happen any other times though, so I figure is a cold situation..... It has never happened later in the day, backing out of a parking space or similar.
It's not loud and it's done it since I've owned it, bought @ 19k miles and it really doesn't bother me..... I just figure it's "normal".......... It's hard to say if it's coming from the front or the back....... could be the rear brake adjusters "ticking" up one notch and that may be heard in the parking brake cable..........
Not sure if it's the same thing you are hearing......
EDIT: Funny.... it didn't do it this morning, Must have known I posted about it.
