2007 HHR Fuel Level Sensor
2007 HHR Fuel Level Sensor
I just installed a new fuel pump. I used my old fuel level sensor.
Now I get code PO462 low sensor input and the gas gauge shows empty.
There are only two wires and they are the same color. Is there a way this could be hooked up wrong? Every thing worked fine until I installed the new fuel pump.

The pin connectors could be the problem. I was very careful with the sensor. I didn't notice when I was taking the wires off the sensor. There are three connector spots. One on the left and two on the right. There are no marking to tell which two connectors to use. I can't find any information any where. I though I put it back the way it was. I do all my own work. I guess I need to slow down and pay attention.

Somebody did, try the search. I remember somebody went through the "which two wires connect to which of the three connector" problem a few years ago.
Oh, that was easy! https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...acement-36541/
Don't take it for gospel, but my memory is trying to tell me the 2 outside connectors get used.
And... you probably did not follow my advice here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...-hhr-ls-53475/. Sorry, if you did actually troubleshoot the problem
.
P0171 does NOT normally point to fuel pressure, it normally means an excess of air in the A/F mix. A vacuum or exhaust leak.

OK, did you read the tutorial on replacing the fuel pump. Your question is answered on the first page.
