2007 HHR won't shift out of park

I have a 2007 HHR, check engine light came on so I took it to a Chev. dealer and had that fixed, drove it for 3 days and now I can't get it out of Park...any suggestions?

shifter safety switches out of alignment, or the shifter itself. when you press the brake do you hear a click near the shifter?

give these a read...

Thanks for the info, but the car got worse today. While fooling with the shifter, brakes, etc. the shifter button is now stuck, the key won't come out of the ignition, the door locks don't work, not sure if there's anything else that we haven't discovered,,wow..I have never had this much trouble with a vehicle. We called the dealership, they said we needed to bring it to them, so we called a friend that owns a wrecker service and he brought his rollback and picked it up. Guess I will have to get out the old '46 FORD I have, bet it will run with no problems...lol..

now all cars have their quicks and issue, my '47 Ford had a issues with leaking head studs, the brakes were always in need of adjustment, new king pins at only 49,000 miles. but than the car was 51 years old.

99% chance your problem is the shifter solenoid is sticking. The only solution GM has is replacing the entire shifter assembly. The shot of WD40 is not in their book.
