2008 HHR LT 2.2L p0016

So my car threw a code this last monday and today when i got in my car to go to lunch it started up but with hesitation. Turned my A/C on and put my car in reverse, but i wasn't going anywhere, car did not want to move and my brake pedal was really stiff. Turned my A/C off and my car began to reverse on its own. Drove of and now my brakes weren't working so i turned around and parked my car. Car will not go with A/C on bit with it off i can maybe top 20mph. Brakes are stiff. Could this have anything to do with the p0016 intake correlation messing with my vacuum from brake booster to intake, is that why my brakes are not working properly? And at idle it boggs up and down.. idk what to do.

The P0016 is worse than you seem to think. It usually means your timing chain is at least stretched.

I suppose that a really poorly running engine would not produce a lot of vacuum for the brake booster.

sucks for you man I am just having my engine replaced for the same thing. replaced the tensioner but hubby messed the valves. upside I get the new engine lol. I love my car and thought he might try a make me get a new one. Its hard to find a car to hold a great Dane camping gear and 3 adults.

I would not drive it, I have seen the results. I suspect the chain is too far gone for the tensioner fix, you may be lucky and get away with just a timing set.

I haven't driven it. I left it at work over night
Im having it towed in the morning to the shop. Hopefully nothing involving the internals aside from the timing set. As shut the car off. Would a bent valve make a noise? Or would i hear the valve being bent by the piston?

Ok guys, heard back from the shop today and i was told that the cam sensor was the culprit, they said the car drives fine now.. i am still wondering where the rattle noise was coming from.
