First Major Problem Code p0016

SO I got a Check engine light this morning on my way to Physical Therapy. Stopped into an Auto Zone for them to plug into it and it showed a p0016. I bought a Crank sensor, had the car towed home after it wouldn't restart and installed it.... no luck. I have another tow truck on the way to tow it to my dealer. Its out of warranty so I'll have to pay for this one. I'll update the post as I get more information.

Thanks, I was hoping for an easy fix but am not going to be so lucky. I already talked to the service manager and he says that its more than likely the timing chain tensioner that allowed the chain to skip a tooth or two. She won't even crank now. Poor girl is hurting. Although 77K before my first problem.... I'm happy!

If it got a code because of it "skipping a tooth or two", then it should have also been running bad at that point. Did you notice that or did you just get the CEL? Also, did you say 77K miles? A little early for tensioner problems.

Thats what I was thinking. 77,000 is quite early. You should be able to go nearly three times that far before any tensioner issues if ever. Possibly a faulty factory part. How frequently have you been getting your oil changed?

Would this not be covered under the 100,000 mile engine/drivetrain warranty? Or does the 07 not have that warranty?

You are correct, if his delivery date was less than 5 years ago. The 07s are beginning to run out of powertrain coverage due to time.

It started running bad last night on the way home from work. This morning I had a CEL, and after therapy I had a no start. Now the engine won't even crank. I got it to the dealer. We'll see in a day or so. My Purchase date was in Feb, my warranty expired 3 months ago.
