Looking at this car….lady says transmission is bad…soleniods….but also says reverse works fine, no forward gears…,.1st gear quit working first then week or 2 later no forward gears…says not driving on road only in yard.
What is most likely probable cause? Trans totally shot? Soleniods bad (both)….or flyid tubes broken?

Well, I had thought about checking resistance of the shift solenoids first. Then maybe drop pan and check the fluid pressure tubes but really I am not an automatic transmission guy…..was hoping for some useful imput….lol

 

Buy the HHR, replace the solenoids and fluid transfer tubes and enjoy your new to your new to you HHR!

 

That's what I would do... at the right price. Bet they already know what the local scrap value is. $200-400 around here. $100 over that should buy it. You're taking a risk, so that's fair.

 

A used transmission if required isn’t all that expensive either, but might have same issues lurking inside!
