2009 HHR A/C sporadic
2009 HHR A/C sporadic
Sorry ahead of time for the length of this post, but I’m trying to get the whole story out there at one time.
I Just bought this 2009 HHR LT Flexfuel , 4 cyl automatic, 2.2 lt about a month ago.
I hit a bad pothole Wednesday and AC stopped blowing cold air.
About an hour later I hit another bump and cold air started blowing again.
Got in the car Thursday and no cold air again.
Took it to the shop this morning, Saturday. On the way there, I hit a speed bump and it started blowing cold air again.
Worked all the way to the shop.
When the AC tech started the car, No AC again.
He put it on the rack and unplugged everything electrical to the AC, checked the connectors and wires, and replugged it all.
He took it off the rack, pulled all the AC fuses to check them, then cranked it up.
No AC.
He looked back under the hood, and discovered a missing fuse.
It is #9 in the under hood fuse box. “AC Diode”
He said “There’s the problem.”
I reminded him that the AC was working on the way there, so I know that diode was in the slot when I got there.
He finally confesses that he “might have dropped it” and couldn’t find it.
When they tried to locate a replacement, they were told Dealership Only part order.
So, my question,
Does anybody know the correct Part Number for this diode? So I can order it myself.

The old "dealer only" dodge. I don't know what the rating is supposed to be, but Littlefuse is not a dealer only item.

By "blowing cold air" do you mean the blower IS working just not cold?

Hey,
Yes, blower works fine, blows on all settings ( floor, vent, defrost) just Cold air is sporadic, depending on if I hit a good bump just right.
Bump = cold, bump = warm, back and forth.
At least it did, before the A/C tech lost the diode.
I appreciate the link to the Littelfuse, but that is the wrong one.
O’Reilly has it with two horizontal prongs, [ - - ]
Mine has one horizontal and one vertical [ - | ]
Can’t find one anywhere locally, and don’t have the part number since the A/C tech lost it.
