Fwiw. A normal chipped key will be marked with a "+" sign just above the key's teeth cuts.

 

I am aware of the Circle+ symbol but the company for which I am doing work states that their keys are chipped. I sent it back to them for testing. Not sure how they can read a chip or tell if it is bad. Thanks.
