2010 HHR Door ajar light on when all are closed

Never replaced one but it must be fairly simple because this is all it says in the manual:

Front Side Door Jamb Switch Replacement

Use a small bladed tool to press the tab on the side of the switch to remove.
Disconnect the electrical connector.

Yep it just pops out with a screw driver. Pull it out unplug it and plug in the new one.

Just pop it back in place and close the door it with automatically adjust

Found a YouTube video. It wasn't an HHR but the same switch. Just grab it with a pair of vice grips and pull it out. It breaks off the tabs but the switch was no good anyway. The connector on mine came off inside the pillar so I got my trusty hemostats out and got it out through the hole. Clipped on the new switch and pushed it into place. Kind of scared me when I closed the door because I heard a scraping noise that didn't sound good but when I opened the door, I found that the door closing adjusted the length of the "pin" that sticks out. every thing is good now.
