Airbag light 2009 HHR

Like most of us, been to dealer many times under warranty. Airbag light kept coming on when I used the glove box. Dealer told me to stop using the glove box since the little plastic thing that holds the glove box was bumping the airbag wires. So, I fixed it myself. I removed the plastic slider thing (the glove box opens with a lurch). Can't put too much stuff in glove box or it bumps airbag wires. Clamped and taped the wires. Also noticed that putting stuff on the floor, by guess what? the kickplate!..Putting stuff on the floor has consistently made the airbag light go on and off. Even more funny is that when I turn left the light goes off, when i turn right, it goes back on. I put a piece of black tape over the light on the dash. I am looking forward to removing the kickplate and solving this next airbag wire problem. I've had many Chevys, always with the loose wires where people put their feet, so aggravating.
It might seem that the airbag light is coming on because someone is sitting in the passenger seat, but I think it's from the feet on the floor (by the kickplate). I have been putting stuff on the seat, with nothing on the floor and problem has diminished, except when I am turning to the right. Dealers blame the customer for having feet. Refuse to fix problem. Wear us out with multiple day and hours long service appointments for nothing. Tell us we don't know how to use the car properly. Car had only 25,000 miles on it when it started happening. Got 100,000 on it now.

What kind of dealer gives this kind of advice? I would like to see him put this in writing.

You should be able to grab the wires and shake them back and forth without any intermittent results. All the connectors, especially the (yellow) airbag connectors solidly lock together. You have a serious wiring problem where a wire is pulling out of a connector or a piched wire has cut through. Better get this fixed before an airbag goes off from a stray signal generated by the loose wire/connector.

Threaten to sue them for endangering your life. Really.

And I have NEVER been to the Chevy dealer under new car warranty. Once under the used car warrant because they lied about never was involved in an accident.

Please don't believe that everybody has problems.

And the connector behind the passenger kick is a fairly well known problem, depending on your model & year there may be a TSB or "recall", I seem to remember. But the fix is basically undo the connector, inspect it, put a dab of dielectric on it and reassemble.
