Unhappy Alarm

I have a 2006 Chevy HHR. The past 3 days the alarm would chirp 4 times and stop. it would do it when I was in the house with my key fob in my purse. Also, my fob just quit working. I dont think a dead fob battery would cause the alarm to chirp would it?

I would check the car battery. When it goes flat the horn will bleep to tell you about it.

Then there is this from the 2006 Owner Manual.

Welcome to the site , mine did the mysterious chirping when the battery died! Seems these little trucklets like a fully charged battery and fully functioning charging system.

I'm pretty sure my car battery is ok because I am not having any problems with the car starting and everything else that relies on the battery appear to be working properly. But... ya never know! I will take it and have it tested just to be sure. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out!

Thank you so much! As I told "donbrew" from the previous reply, my battery appears to be working fine. It has no problems starting and everything else that relies on the battery seem to be ok. But you never know so I will have it tested to make sure it's charging and holding the charge. Thanks for your time! 😊🚘🔊

I solved my problem! I feel like an idiot! The battery in my key fob was dead. 😒 I replaced it with a new one and the alarm is working fine! I bought my car used about a year ago and have never had to replace battery until now. I didn't know the car chirps when battery in FOB is dead.

Thank you guys for your suggestions!
