I recently changed my engine. I checked the coolant level the other day and some spilled on the alternator. the next time I started it, there was a loud tick from the alternator. It stopped, but out of curiosity, I checked prices. After seeing what a new one cost, I looked at ebay and found one from a wreck with low mileage, but it was listed for a 2.4L I have a 2.2L (2008).

Does the 2.2 and the 2.4 use the same alternator and are the hookups the same on an 2008-2011?

 

Easy way to check would be to go to a GM online parts web site that has part numbers listed an check the numbers for the 2 cars. Try nalleygmc.com or rockauto.com for instance.

I believe that they will be the same part.

 

It's GM pn 15923218, and it was used on both the 2.2 & 2.4 engines, no compatibility issues, and the connections are the same.
