Don't have access at the moment to what I ordered, but I arbitrarily looked up what RA lists for 2014 Equinox 2.4, and it's GM 28289946. That's gotta be it.

Cloyes has a balance chain kit (9-4202SAX ?) that has the updated tensioner. That's the only difference. Got it from Amazon. Ordered the GM tensioner from RA I think. The tensioners didn't look identical so I decided to use the GM.

Yes. I see
9-4202SAX is the balance chain kit with the new tensioner.
9-4202SX is the kit with the old tensioner

I think maybe I’ll ask my dealer about whether there has been a supersession for HHR, as there seems to have been with Equinox. (90537300 —-> 28289946)

When I checked that superceeded part number apparently it doesn’t fit the HHR as it was released in 2012 to 17 Ecotec 2.4 litre engines, but you confirm it it does physically fit and functions perfectly.

Stronger spring. Speculating/hoping better steel inside so the ratchet doesn’t fail. Did learn that Cloyes seems to be focused on meeting OEM specs, not exceeding them.
