Another passenger wet floor thread

Happy new year to everyone. I also have a leak somewhere on the passenger side of our 2007 HHR. We've owned this car for about 8yrs and haven't had any leaking issues until this fall. After reading about the cowl butyl patch failing on this forum I decided to check it. To my surprise there wasn't one and from the looks of it there never was one. Our HHR doesn't have a sunroof either. Not sure why it starting leaking now and not before? Did some HHRs come without the cowl butyl patch? She I put a butyl patch on it even though it never had one? Not sure which direction to go from here, any help would be appreciated.

Most 2007's didn't have a butyl patch it most likely is the HVAC drain or since its near the door the wire harness loom boot, make sure it is sealed and seated correctly.

If there is a large hole, then it needs to be patched. All 2006 and some early 2007 models have the hole, it was used to install the blower evidently.

The A/C drain may be clogged forcing the condensate onto the floor. If your Defroster is on the A/C is on.

I moved this to a new thread.

I appreciate the info donbrew.
The floor board fills with water when it's just sitting overnight in the rain. Would a plugged AC drain cause this to happen?

No, it would only leak while the AC/Defrost/Recirculate was operating. You are looking at:
1. Leaky Windshield
2. Butyl Patch
3. Wire harness A-Pillar penetration(where the wire harness goes towards the door).
4. Perhaps a bunch of debris(leaves, etc.) under the cowl. But it sounds like you've already looked under there.
5. Debris lodged in the door seal.

Some great info here, I appreciate it. I'll check the rubber boot between the A pillar and the door.

It's never had a butyl patch and it just started leaking in October 2016?

Is there a approx. 3X5 inch hole in the metal under the plastic cowl? That is what the patch patches. On a 2007 it depends on the production date if the hole is there.
