Anyone have
Thermostat, not temp sensor. It is one of those "magic", (computer related) items. Also just for kicks check you coolant fluid level, that is a likely, and cheaper alternative. You do need to check the coolant level in modern cars more often than you used to on account of evaporation of new formulation antifreeze, thanks EPA. These are the symptoms of coolant level/recirc because if there is no fluid covering the temp sensor, then there is no temp! That is why this solution does not seem to make sense.
And also made sure when temp outside is like 1000* out, it does not overflow..

I do hear the gurgle through the waterfall. Im sure it's low, good call - I will check tomorrow after work. Friday-Sunday it gets parked. The Marauder gets to come out on the weekends. Thanks.
It's the thermostat. The thermostat has a rubber gasket that seals the moving part of the thermostat. The gasket fails and jams the thermostat in an open position. With the thermostat jammed open, the engine takes longer to warm up. The computer then detects that the engine is taking too long to warm up, so turns off the analogue temp display, changes the digital display so that it reads "----", and disables the air conditioning. Dependent on the number of drive cycles and other parameters the Engine Check Light might be triggered. The code captured will be something about engine undertemperture.
This has been discussed several times and pretty much each time the person having a problem someone sends them off on a wild goose chase looking for the temperature sensor or for a short or fuse etc..

Here is a great posting that shows the procedure for changing the thermostat -
