Auto shift button will not depress

2008 HHR LT auto. Some mornings when I start the car the shift button will not depress. After a few minutes it will. I hear the clicking under the dash when the brake pedal is pressed, but the button on the shifter will not depress to change gears.Ive seen issues here where the button will not release out, but not this.
Thanks

I typed "shifter stuck in park" into the search box and found this.

Key stuck in ignition is a separate but related issue.

Plus it could be a case of the shifter mechanism needing lubrication, an '08 is old enough, and Tenn is hot enough in the Summer/cold enough in the Winter to cause a shifter to "hang up". as the factory lube dries out.

The one I got today on the 2008 that lives in a salvage yard somewhere is for "key stuck".

My 2011 had the "shifter stuck" problem, I solved it with WD40, as in the posted video.

But either way, both fixes are posted in the "how-to" forum and are both simple.
