Automatic Transmission

I have just purchased a 2007 Chevrolet HHR LT model and I am having trouble with the high gears in my automatic transmission. The HHR doesn't shift into the higher gears as it should when driving.

I am not sure if it is an electronic issue or a transmission issue. Can anyone give me some insight? What could be causing this and what should I check first?

Welcome to the site, check for a loose connection at the TCM and the ground wires.

Thanks Old Blue. I have been investigating and have found similar fixes for this problem. I have also found that it the TCM has been touched by a hot wire while being maintenanced that it will need to be replaced. Is this true? How much will this replacement cost?

Let’s confirm the problem first, then get into the parts, but they aren’t that expensive.
