Blower broken on A/C and heater

Hello,

I registered with this group to hopefully get some advice as to how I can fix my HHR’s blower issue.

From time to time, and now more frequently, the blower has broken. This means that while I can feel cool air coming through the vents at high speeds, it doesn’t blow out air.

Funnily enough, I have noticed if I hit bumps just right, the blower will kick on. That leads to me believe it’s some sort of wiring issue.

Additionally, higher speeds of air sound a little raspier than normal, if that makes sense.

I’ve never had to repair something like this before, so if any of y'all could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Thank you!

Welcome, the bump and it works statement leads me to loose fuses or connections. Check the fuses and relays pertaining to the HVAC

https://fuse-box.info/chevrolet/chev...uses-and-relay

And tighten the 4 , 7 mm bolts in the under hood fuse box

These 4 bolts, real tight!

If you just don’t feel air at the vents, it could be a damper. The fan is pretty audible. You should hear a different tone at each speed setting. Or, some speeds work and some don’t indicating a failed resistor pack. Also check for heat at the lower ducts and the windshield ducts.

I would start by looking for debris in the cabin air filter tangling the fan .
I bet you didn't know there was a cabin air filter. Remove the glove box and open the door behind it. FREE Owner Manual via the link in my sig.
