Blower motor issues?
Blower motor issues?
Today it was 106 here in Des Moines and my A/C worked fine on the way home from work. When I went to run an errand later the blower motor was not working at all.Has anyone had problems or issues with their motor not working right or working at all. It's too damn hot for this to happen right now but that's when it always does.I'm still getting cold air while the car is moving but not from the blower motor so I know it's it not the compressor or condensor.Any input is welcome.Thanks,Jeff.
Yes, I actually had it happen on my 06. Many times the blower motor fails because of a leak at the intake cowl (do a search on butyl patch for the fix and TSB). Sometime in 2007, the design was changed so it is not an issue if you have a later 07 or an 08. If you have an 06, you will want to fix the leak before replacing the motor. Otherwise, just swap it out.

Not a terrible job, but not totally easy either from the sounds of it. Before you replace it, check for signs of water leaks in your air intake (look at the cabin air filter to see if it is wet or shows water stains)

I checked out the filter by chance and didn't notice any water stains or otherwise. How is it compared to changing a blower motor on an old 70-72 GM A-Body? At least the motor is where you don't have to remove the passenger side fender. What does it require and how long do you think it would take?
Dude, I've read the post you were talking about and I'm totally confused.I've rebuilt engines before but I have to say I'm a little confused by the schematic. Is this what I'm looking at when I lower the glove box down?
Alright, quick update for anyone interested. I called a shop here and asked him about the motor and found out if you give it a little "tap" from under the motor housing,i.e. insulation under the glove box area, it will sometimes get er' goin again and sure enough it started running again. I'm still takin it to him to check out the relays because he said more than likely that could be the issue. But at least if it happens again I know what to do.PHEW !!!!

Pretty much the same thing happened to me last year...check out https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/general-hhr-4/hvac-fan-switch-15290/ - maybe this will give your mechanic a heads-up.
