Both Fobs Stopped Working

I've dealt with the typical issues of loose battery contacts and all that, and I've gotten both key fobs working just fine, including remote ignition.

For some reason though, for the last two days, the car door locks do not respond to either remote. I have made sure all doors, the hood, the rear hatch, and the gas cap door are all securely closed, but the car does not react to any Lock or Unlock command from either fob.

Since both stopped working at the same time, I thought it was unlikely to be a battery issue, but I did in fact swap out the battery in one of the units - no fix.

I looked at the Fuse Panel, but I didn't see one labeled Remote Receiver or something obvious like that. Is there in fact a fuse for that purpose? The Power Door Locks are working, when you use the buttons inside the car. As far as I can tell, all other electronic/mechanical functions are working properly.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

Welcome to the site.

You can take your fobs to most part store and confirm they work with there tester.

If the fobs are ok I would suspect that the car may have lost its memory.

Have you had the battery go dead or have to jump start the car recently?

Thanks Lucky for the response. I did in fact have some service done over the weekend (A/C work and Oil Change). I didn't mention it in my original post, because I was pretty confident I started the engine remotely as I was walking out of the shop.

All my radio presets were still in tact after the service, and the clock had not been reset, so I don't have any reason to suspect that the battery had been disconnected.

if it is a matter of the car "losing its memory," is that something I can reprogram on my own? Or is it essentially the same as programming a fob, which needs to be done at the dealership?

No it's as simple as disconnect the negative cable at the battery for 30 minutes

It would be the same as reprogramming the fobs.

In reality the key fobs don't get programed. The car is programed to accept the key fobs.

That is why when you reprogram the car you have to have both fobs present.

I would test the fobs first though. It would not be the first time I have heard of fobs dying at the same time.

Thanks Lucky. I just called the manager of the shop that did the A/C service and explained the issue. Could tell he was kinda scratching his head, but in any case, he did the right thing - he invited me to bring the car and the fobs down to his shop so he could re-program the system for me. I'll do that tomorrow afternoon and let you all know how it goes.
