It happened to me this week, car started going left and right, I stopped and noticed both driver's side lower control arm bolts had broken into the frame. To be able to make it back home I installed exhaust clamps so the control arm would stay tight onto the frame. The pieces in the frame are so far in I don't even know how i will be able to extract them from the frame. Did it ever happened to any of you on this site or am i the only one bad lucky enough to be the first one ?
Is that bolt #24? I've never heard of anyone having any of these bolts break. It looks like the threads are stripped off the end of the bolt, like someone installed it cross threaded. If this is the case, you may just have to run an appropriate size tap in the hole to clear out the excess material.
Someone, at sometime may have used an air impact gun to install them and over torqued them. They are to be torqued to 41 ft/lbs.
That does appear to be stripped, hopefully you can clean up the threads and install new bolts.
DO NOT drive until fixed. DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!
To my eyes it looks like they where never torqued correctly. The one pictured is not broken, they are supposed to have a funky tip. The end threads are stripped.
I bet the rear bushings are shot, you need new control arms.
