Brake Pedal low

Do these cars have a natural soft feeling brake pedal? My 2007 HHR's brakes work but the pedal seems to be spongy. I can slam on the brakes and it stops quickly but then I can push the pedal all the way to the floor with hard pressure. I have replaced the rear shoes and drums and they are adjusted properly, I replaced the front pads and then I completely flushed out all the old fluid out by bleeding the brakes. The brake booster is working like it should. It just doesn't have a solid pedal.

The rear drum brakes don't self-adjust reliably. They need to be manually adjusted. "Proper" adjustment should be no more than 3 clicks of the E-brake.

I guess it could be bad flexible tubing. 15 year old rubber could wear out. Low on my list would be bad calipers.

As soon as I can I am going to check the hoses.

You aren't wasting money by replacing 15 year old rubber that is exposed to the elements.

That is true. It has 217,000 miles on it.

Are the front caliper slide pins clean and lubed?
