Busting out the timing gun!

Can I use my light duty timing gun on this 2.2 eco- tech? Procedure?
please advise

Nope - but some OBDII readers will give you a readout, however there is no adjustment for the timing as such. It's all computer controlled.

Old school timing lights are made for older cars that had distributors you could adjust.. You would also need a spark plug wire to hook the lead onto.
Ecotecs have neither of these.

Not sure WHY you would want to try this. You wouldn't accomplish anything.
My Snap On timing light is buried somewhere in the back of one of my tool boxes. Hasn't been used since I sold my last Olds 442 about 25 years ago.

I would want to try this to check my timing... It was unknown to me whether I could do this or not.

There is no spark timing that is adjustable. Hasn't been for 10-15 years.

Find a car with a distributor and your timing light won't be useless anymore.
