Butyl Patch

Hey, so I just found out that the "butyl Patch" under my cowl is completely disintegrated. For now I've put in a waterproof cloth cut to size over the place but it doesn't look like it'll hold. Is there a place where I can buy a new one (what's it called) or does GM not make that specific part? I saw the handful of DIYs on YouTube and just wanted to check before I do any.

Regards,
Allen P

Make your own out of something stronger, like a piece of sheet metal. Then seal it in place with your choice of a quality sealant.
It will then last the life of the car.

That's what I did.
No leaks, no fuss
The butyl patch was an after build "oops" when it was discovered that water could/would get into the fan assembly.

When I had my HHR, I replaced the patch with aluminum roof flashing, of the appropriate size, from Home Depot. Lasted the 8 years I had the car and 2 or 3 for the next owner, who was a friend. re Don't exactly remember what I used to seal it, but I believe it was some type of butyl. I believe I even posted a picture if it is still around.

I just finished the job using the same metal, aluminium roof sheets.
I cut it to size and used the 4 minute epoxy glue to seal it in.

Appreciate the help,
Allen
