An emergency happened and my wife jumped in our hhr and tried to start it too fast and it trigger the theft lock. I got the keys out of the ignition by pressing the button under the steering column. However it won't start at all. Disconnected the battery and left it alone for 15 minutes just to be safe. Should I have gone for 20? Really don't want to have to deal with the dealership is there ANY way around this.

 

Try a 30 minute battery lobotomy, just the negative cable!

 

Sounds like a dead or damaged battery.

 

Never heard of " tried to start it too fast". Dead battery will lock the key and set the security light off.

 

Take it to your favorite auto parts store, where they should be able to perform a free battery load test.
