Anyhow, both the wires from the dimmer mod are now disconnected. I installed an old panel I had and everything works except for the mas speed setting.

All so strange. Is my HHR haunted???
Coincidence? I think not.

I was wondering if I could buy one from you. I don’t have heated seats, and I’m happy to pay whatever you’d like to charge me. I was really happy to find this post, just because I didn’t really know if this was a common problem, and here we are! Hahaha
All of the speeds except high stopped working. The A/C also stopped clicking on at the same time. So all I now have is just Off & High Fan.

Also, was wondering if you might have any of the speed knobs, because the rubber that’s facing up is beginning to deteriorate. Even just the outside rubber grip ring would be fine since the actual knob is okay.

Thanks so much if you can possibly sell me one!

If the fan has ONLY high and off the resistor is bad. If you have a 2006 or early 2007 the "butyl patch" under the windshield cowl is probably compromised.

planetrj has a 2010, so yes it’s most likely the resistor, send hellshotrod a PM for that or order new from RockAuto and don’t forget that discount code!

I appreciate that info from both of you. Yes, I have a 2010 (as I’ve discovered by cleaning out the air duct, there’s no butyl - mine’s a metal piece). I will send a PM, and see what we come up with. If not, it looks like I’m going to be using the windows a lot more for a while. Hehe

Thank you!

Ah! 4Sixty AC , all four windows down and 60 MPH to cool off!
Not recommended in city streets.

Well, s far so good. I disconnected the ground and power wires I used to modify my dimmer switch, And I installed an old HVAC control panel which wasn't working 2 years ago. And now it works perfectly. All fan speeds!

When I did the dimmer switch mod, the article showed how to add 2 wires to the plug and it said that it did not matter which wire you grounded or hooked up to the fuse box. But now Don said it does matter, so I must have had it wrong. Wither way, I am not anxious to get the dimmer switch to operate the courtesy lights. I am just happy the problem seems to be solved

Thanks to all the support from you guys, as always

I didn't actually say it was wrong. But, I think the dimmer was the problem.

I’ve often wondered why mess with the interior lighting, the dimmer switch relays thru the BCM to the lights, so yeah, it would definitely matter if you grounded a wire.
