hello, good afternoon
I wanted to know if you can help me, I have a HHR 2006 LS, the engine knocks after 2500 revolutions.
I want to change the engine for a new one that I can get and it is from the 2007 HHR, it is a GM 2.2 L61
Since the 2007 engine has an inlet at the top of the tree, you raise an electrical connection and the car model does not have that connection.
well if someone could help me

Basic 2.2 engines will swap you will need to reuse the 2006 ignition box and sensors

GM calls the 2.2 in 2006 HHR Gen I L61, and 2007 HHR Gen II L61.

I have do idea how different they are (only aware of a few differences,) nor why the chose to use the same RPO code for two different motors, but best not to assume similarities that may not exist in this case.

I’ve swapped them , just used the 2006 electrical sensors and ignition. One is still driving 11 years later.

The main difference is in the casting method.

That's good to know. Which sensors, exactly?

I reused the crank and cam sensors oil pressure, knock sensor.
most important the coil pack must be used from the 2006.
if the 2006 didn’t have cam sensors but the 2007 did, you have to leave them in place due to oil leaks.

2006 2.2L does not have cam position sensors, the 2006 2.4L does have them.

But in the 2007 2.2 , they do have them so just leave it in the head and don’t look for wires going to it.
