Car died at redlight
Car died at redlight
I have a 2008 ss and i was setting at a red light yesterday and the car died and wouldn't start, every time i tried to start it, it was like the ignition would stick and just keep turning over until i would turn the key off, so i called for roadside assistance, which took over 3 hrs for the estimated time of arrival, but about 2 hrs later the car finally started, i was wandering if anyone else has had this happen, as this is the second time my car has done this. Thanks.
I'm goint to take it to the shop as soon as i can get time, i was wandering if anyone has had the same problem, or if they have an idea what it could be,i have a autozone like 50 miles away, but i dont want to drive it that far, scared it might die again.
The ignition doesn't "stick" on HHRs. You move the key to the start position and let go of it. It will crank until it starts. (Most people are not aware of this because these cars usually start immediately)
An OBD-II scanner is a very good investment. You can read the codes and clear them. If the car won't start after clearing the codes, you have a fairly significant problem. And a record you can bring to the dealer (if you write them down).
Was there any message in the DIC when this happened?

No there was not a message in the DIC, its just kinda weird because it has done this twice, but both times it starts after it sits awhile, its just crazy because yesterday i drove it about 160 mile round trip with no problems, and then about an hour after i got home i ran to the store and then it happens.
Sounds like something loose to me..just for grins and giggles recheck all you fuses and relays make sure none of them are loose..as temp and road shock and wiggle them around maybe enuf to break contact..yes temp is a possible
culprit as I had a module once that wouldn't pass test but when chilled down in a soda case it worked fine..strange find but good lesson learned..useful when you have ALL the conditions of fault.

Curious which engine you have? I test drove an '07 2.2 (new at the time) and it cut-out on me at a light. I took it right back and said "something's wrong with this one"; then I test drove a 2.4, which I ended up buying. Keep us posted what you discover
He has a 2.0l turbo engine its an SS
