Yes it is a generic in tank pump. The large hose is the out the small hose is the overflow. Be sure to match the color codes of the wires, they change positions sometimes.

Yes, I have long been roling this topic in my head. But at the time it was theoretical. An attempt to draw up an action plan in case of a real problem.

Well. Thunder struck.
It's time to replace the pump. New pump in the trunk and there is an opportunity (or even the need) to conduct a useful experiment on the resuscitation of the old pump.
It is stupid to drag it in the trash.
