Is there way to get the cel light codes with out a scanner like on older cars?

Not that I've heard of. You need a scanner with OBDII.

Most auto parts stores will scan for free.

What he said, the old days of terminal jumping with a paperclip went out long ago, head to your local Autozone, Advance, NAPA, etc.

After reading others issues with the check engine light. I figured out what was causing it. This morning on my way to pt I stopped and filled up and forgot to tighten the gas cap down all the way.

Yup, that'll do it for sure.

So will leaving the cap on the roof and not hearing it hit the rear bumper as you pull away.
