Very well may be a fuel line. I checked a couple years ago and found no leak. I have oil leaking from the passenger side back of the engine now. It appears to be a valve cover gasket. This car has been keeping me bus lately. This oil leak has taken precedence. I'll come back to the fuel smell later. Any chance a leaky valve cover would be my engine light?

Valve cover gasket is not a wear part. Tightening the bolts should do the trick.

I've got the "Check Gas Cap" blues also.
I have replaced the purge valve, canister, and gas cap.
I guess I'm going for a crawl underneath next?

Fuel vapour line corroded? Look up behind and above the rear axle inside the insulation wrap

Were you able to blow through the purge valve you were replaced? If not did you save it? It's probably good and should be saved.

Correction: replaced the canister vent solenoid, not the entire canister. All GM replacement parts.
Trying to locate the possible corroded lines.
This car has never seen snow, lived in the deserts of California. Is the corrosion from fuel, or road salt?
Thanks!

Put the system under 3 psi and spray around with a mix of water and simple green.. The canister may have cracks in it.

Replacement vent solenoids are notorious for the gasket leaking. Many don't come with a new one, many times they don't get seated correctly.

I connected the ODB adapter and dug around:
My current codes:
P0442 - small leak.
P0446 - vent control - circuit malfunction
P0455 - large leak detected
I tried the spray-soap-bubble-leak-detector. The system said it was at 9Pa. No bubbles around connections or read of charcoal canister.
It might be a good idea to re-seat the connections. Making sure they are clean and the gaskets are properly seated.
