Click/pop noise from front end
I don't have any idea what a "lower left side bearing" could be. I am thinking it could possibly be the control arm bushing, if so $200 seems fairly reasonable. Parts cost $13 (unless he replaces the entire control arm), about 2 hours "book" labor (45 minutes "real" labor).
I am getting the sense that you are having a communication problem between Yourself and the Dealer and/or your Mechanic. If it isn't "broke" then why would they replace? If you are talking about the other side not being broke, that is not unusual. It is only recommended to change out both sides of anything at the same time for economic reasons (sometimes yours,sometimes the shops), not necessarily performance reasons, if that's what you are getting at.

just started after the brakes were done..?? humm.....anyway, how many miles on your HHR..??
