click in stgeering but no noise?!?

have a 2006 2.4l HHR with 90,000mi.

i did a couple of searches but did not notice a similar post.

took the wifes car today and noticed a click in the steering wheel but i do not hear a noise to correspond to it. it is not consistent. doesnt happen every time i turn the wheel, well not in small movements when you drive. but i notice it when doing a 3pt turn(k turn for the younger group). definitely not hitting the lock position of the rack. seems to be in mid turn.

any thoughts?

Or
Broken turn signal cancellation mechanism.
Bad u joint in the steering shaft.
Clock spring falling apart.

In other words. Could be just about anything that moves or rotates when the steering wheel does. You're just going to have to pin point where the noise is coming from and start checking things.

I had a similar click in Oldblue a few years ago, it was the multi switch for the turn signals.

THANKS GUYS!!

i will check the LCA's, endlinks and swaybar stops.

would no power steering noise nor leaks indicate the rack is ok?

after i fixed the sloppy oil change that i did, i no longer have leaks!! LOL

a couple of years ago i did the switch and it is not difficult nor expensive.

ok so at least after i check these i wont be concerned.

The rack is not a power assisted rack, the electric power steering motor is on the steering column under the dash board.
check the intermediate steering shaft while your under there.
