code po700tcm,mil requested
my 2006.2.2litre hhr had a problem with the automatic doors locking when you put in park.the doors would not lock and the engine light came on a few days later.you could here a little click in the shifter when you put the brakes on or off.I had a mechanic friend clear the code and now the doors are locking the way they should. The automatic transmission shifted normal even with the light on.Is something in the linkage that causes this .Seens to be in cold weather.Happened once last winter then went away on its own.Any help would be great. Thanks Douglas
The clicking you're hearing is the solenoid for the BTSI(Brake Transmission Shift Interlock), it's normal to hear that click/snap sound when depressing the brake pedal to shift from "Park".
P0700 = Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination...would indicate a fault has been found causing the transmission module to illuminate the CEL.
Since your issue seems to be temperature related, it could be the grease GM used to lubricate the shift mechanism becoming sticky/stiff when cold and causing the BTSI solenoid to hang up.
If it's behaving itself now, just keep an eye out for a recurrence, you might need to remove the shifter and relubricate it.
