Console clicking when stepping on brake pedal

Console clicking when stepping on brake pedal
Originally when I was in Park and put on the brakes to disengage the shift lever, it clicked (a release?) and I could shift out of park.
When I did this, the auto door locks engaged (as expected) and I didn't hear any more clicking in the console.
I started having problems disengaging the shift lever and would have to step on the brake pedal several time to get the shift release to activate.
Now when I step on the brake pedal the transmission lever disengages out of Park (like normal), but the automatic door locks don't activate, and the clicking happens every time I step on the brake pedal. No matter what gear I have selected.
Is there a broken relay in the console, or is a worse problem?

Have you checked the battery? Things like that can happen with low voltage.
Have you checked your brake lights? Could be the brake pedal position sensor.
More likely a bad micro-switch than relay. My 2011 had a "stuck in park" problem that was solved by shooting some WD40 on the shifter micro switch. There are a couple of rods that have grease on them that got hard, down on the bottom of the shifter assembly. Sometimes sugary liquids get spilled that gum things up.
Has anyone messed with the door lock settings in the DIC?
Here is a pdf for the shift interlock schematic

Battery is good and everything runs normal, except this clicking in the console every time I put on the brake. Oh, and the door locks not auto engaging any more.
Where is the brake pedal position sensor? Can I tell anything by looking at it?
Where is the shifter micro switch located? By the brake pedal or in the console?

Get somebody to stand behind the car while you step on the brake; do the brake lights work?
There are options to set in the DriverInformationCenter. Instructions in your Owner Manual (link in my sig).
