Well I havent had a change to do a compression test yet. I did take the time to pull the spark plugs today just to have a look.

Here is a picture of the plugs, they are in order left to right taken out of the engine.

They actually all look about the same, even though the picture makes the one on the left look worse.

Anyone have an opinion?

Also, if a compression test doesnt reveal anything bad, is the leak down test still necessary?

Looks like you need new plugs, the center electrode is gone, worn out. Those are probably original plugs. Not sure what the grey residue is. Is it ash-like deposits? Of course, it doesn't explain your coolant loss.

The one on the left might explain it; it looks steam cleaned from here.

Grey residue usually means lean, could be due to the horribly worn out plugs.

Those plugs have been bad for a long time.

Yes it is a gray, ashy textured deposit. Very hard and cooked on. I plan on replacing the plugs this evening and hopefully doing a compression test if the tool is available to rent. The plug on the left doesn't look much different in person, the picture just makes it look that way. I'm planning on getting Ac Delco 41-105 plugs is that right for an 06 with 2.2?

You will be amazed how worn out your old ones are compared to the new.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GAP THE NEW PLUGS. They are pre gapped in the box.

I used the same ones. They are pregapped and have a protective sleeve for transportation. Just basically plug and play. I had no issues. Dont forget dielectric grease and do not use anti seize!!!!!!

What's the reasoning for not using anti-seize? I have always used anti seize on engines with aluminum heads. Just curious.
