Cracked Flex fitting on Downpipe...

I searched the forums on this and didn;t find anything, So here's my thread.
I had a exhaust leak start a couple weeks ago and had my muffler shop check it out.
He found the flexible fitting on the down pipe had cracked. Just as I was about to shell out a few hundred bucks a buddy says, isn;t that warranty? . So we took it to the local deal and foud that since it was the pipe with the cat on it that it was covered. Suprised me as it is a 2006 3 years old, but the warranty on that item is 100K miles.

Anyone else have this problem?

I am currently at my local dealer troubleshooting the same issue. I took a look at it myself over the weekend and came to the conclusion that it was the flex joint on the downpipe. now just need them to confirm it and offer a warranty fix. mine is a 06 model with 53k on it. wondering if this is a common issue?

Common issue? yes...on all front wheel drive vehicles.....they don't last forever...one thing to consider is how you drive and the condition of your motor mounts...if therea a lot of eng rock and your heavy on the petal in traffic theres going to be an awful lot of flexing at this joint. How many times can you bend a paper clip before it breaks?Find the cause of the flex and you'll elimnate the breakage, well at least prolong it.....

baahaha back from the dead.

Had this replaced at 75k miles last march. Bessy is @ 112k and She busted open last week on a drive back from Chicago to Mi. left it alone but it got a bit loud last Thursday.
Dropped the assembly this past Thursday night and just welded that thin @$$ metal flex closed again....

Had an early drive to Grand Rapids then over to Rose city for the weekend. = a lot of miles. Well after some crazy baja/rally car driving in the state park things are still silent, well as silent as a welded flex can get

I made a stop over at ZZP but they didnt know if the cobalt pipes would fit on the HHR. (really? find out and widen your sales demograpic)

Anyways, has anyone fabbed up their one repair or are most of ya still under that 8yr 100k bit for warr replacement?
