Crank sensor

Got question got 2007 2.2 motor with 260000 had my timing chain done about 90000 mile used Cloyes parts ok the car start up on a dime runs no noise can get up to 40 mph but struggles to to get up to 60 mph like it has no power .. so my question is it has P0016 code so with with crank sensor not working right that it will retard the timing ? Which will effect the motor to produce power ? Got it at the shop to check it out .. I think a chain should last more then 90000 because the last one was done at 170000 the original chain .. also the crank sensor is original one at 260000 .. thanks

The crank sensor is a coil of wire sealed in epoxy; do you think mileage would matter?

P0016 means that the crank sensor doesn't agree with the cam sensor, yes it could be that one of those coils of wire wore out; but what are the odds they would wear out faster than a chain running high speed against 3 sprockets?

Did you replace the sprockets then?

Yes the timing chain was done at 170000 then the balance chain gave out at 230000 then replaced that so that was done 30000 miles ago .. so I only got 90000 on the timing chain ..now the car sits at 2600000 with this problem

Logically it is very possible the balance chain being replaced is the cause of the P0016.
The timing chain is off by one tooth, causing the crank sensor to do its job and tell the ECM there is a problem.
Pull the front engine cover and the valve cover to verify.

The balance chain drives the balance shafts and the water pump, the timing chain drives the camshafts and aligning the timing with the crankshaft

thanks blue so if the balance chain stretch do to a faulty tensioner and is not lined up right would cause the motor not make power past 60 mph ..so if timing is still good because it starts up with no trouble might just have to replace the balance chain again with a new tensioner and then retime the motor again .. it happen before the balance chain that ride sprockets the teeth were gone not turning the chain and pump causing temps to ride up .. but the car ran perfect lol .. well won’t know to the shop calls me ..

The balance chain only keeps a 4 cylinder engine from self destructing and has it's own tensioner inside the cover. And drives the water pump. Wear on it is minimal.

I guess it could makes so much vibration that the sensors would limit rpm.
