A battery that only holds 12.3V is not a good battery. Good enough, maybe, maybe not. Usually not. Best thing to do is get a brand-new battery. At least then you're eliminating the battery question. Well worth the money, and even if you didn't really need it, at least you have something to show for your money, as opposed to all the other non-returnable electrical parts that get replaced pointlessly because of a bad battery.

Used to be, any battery that would crank the motor was good enough. Just not true anymore. Certainly not with HHR.

It will be a few days before i can get back on it. Yeah, given that is a OEM Delco I will go ahead and replace it and see what that gets me.

My 2011 OEM Delco died back in 2019, I don’t know what the previous owners did, so I bought a new battery.

Replaced the battery last night. Still nothing. Going to start over again in a few days when I am off. Just going to take it from the top in case something was missed. This time I will do all the measuring myself.

Here goes the update.

I left the battery plugged in the last few days and it is not drained. Getting good power from battery, in and out of the fuse box. The starter does turn the engine. I ordered a compression tester, and the engine has spark, but NO compression. The needle did not even budge.

It sounds just like this.

One more thing I wanted to point out is that it was a breakdown, so it lost all compression while driving down the road.

Seems to me next steps are going to be pushing it up in the carport and rotating it around to check the marks compared to the colored links on the timing chain. If they don't match I will line it back up, replace the chain and tensioner and test on it then.

That video is not a HHR or even an Ecotech engine.
Show us a video of your actual car/engine.
