Cranks and dies P1682 & P0689

New here and to the HHR community, I got a 2006 LT 2.4 88K miles. I recently got the car from someone that had a no crank no start for free. It was ripped apart when new ECM, TCM and BCM didn't fix it. I put everything together and found that the ignition was the reason for no crank. But now it cranks and dies immediately, with codes P1682 and P0689. The ignition 1 signal is reading the 12v but the engine control ignition relay feedback signal is 0. Checked the relays, grounds, voltage at fuses, and replaced the fuse box with no change. Any ideas of what to check now?

Hey neighbor. I’m on the other side of the bay from you. Fairhope.
Which fuse box did you replace ?
Have you got the correct, programmed key ? Almost sounds as if the theft deterrent is shutting it down.

I replaced the one under the hood. Scanner is showing a good key with no immobilizer faults. The battery is also brand new.

Are all the ground connections clean and tight? Are those four 7mm bolts in the under hood fuse box tight? All the fuses and relays pushed firmly into place ?

Welcome to the site.

There are 2 ignition 1 circuits P1682 refers to circuit 2. The power train relay.
Ign 1 c 2 is the run/crank relay.

P0689 means the feedback is 0. Also the power train relay.

So, we are looking at the power train relay and its control circuit.

Update, wiring checked out and a 3rd fuse box was the charm. Swapped it with another and it fired right up. Just need to find out why the tcm is losing communication with the ecm.

He had replaced the fuse box before. Replaced it again so it’s the 3rd one if you count the original.
