Question Cruise Control shift issues

Hello all- My father purchased his HHR LT Automatic just over one year ago. Since that time, when using his cruise control on the highway it experiences shifting issues (tested at 60, 65, 70, 72 MPH, with the issue found at all levels). After automatically downshifting for a normally expected situation, the transmission will remain in 3rd gear (or 2nd if passing ) for a longer than expected time. For instance, reaching level ground will not cause an upshift (waiting 10, 20, or even 60 seconds on flat driving to recorrect). After the initial problem during each trip, even small dips in the road will cause a downshift and reoccurence of the problem. I would label this a constant issue; experienced 90% of the time CC is activated. The dealer has thus far been unable to correct the issue. Anyone have any similar experiences or helpful ideas?

Thanks for your help,
Wade

Vacuum

I would look for a vacuum leak. Take it to the dealer if under warranty if not find someone that knows the tricks for locating vacuum leaks.

His problem doesn't sound normal. My '06 auto using cruise will down shift on some highway hills..but it just comes out of lock up as I'm at 65 or so. On steeper hills with cruise at 55, it has gone to 3rd sometimes. Dealer check out time. (low transmission fluid?) and no where to check level easily.
