Just talked to the Service Dept.... They told me the HHR had dead electrical system again this morning, and they had the car, but had not had a chance to run diagnostics on it yet.

I'm glad I decided to drive over last night and use the drop off service.

Anyone else had this problem with the electrical system randomly dying?

 

Not a clue, unless when the key stuck, the ignition switch became lodged in a "halfway there" position...not fully off and not fully on, that would maybe explain it...maybe.

 

A dead electrical system or dead battery? In laymans terms, the system could be dead,but the battery have a charge. In simple terms, is the power not getting from the battery to the rest of the car? If that's the issue, it sounds like a fuse,relay,ground or connection problem.

 

I'm leaning to the ignition switch having crapped out or a master fuse of some sort... but the random loss of electrical has me leaning more to the ignition switch. (I work with electronics every day and spend 50% of my time troubleshooting systems here)

 

I remember a sticky post someplace, warning to push IN all the fuses, as some were loosening and causing something like this. - ???

I don't remember the details, but after getting my Panel, I pushed them all in tight under the hood and at the front passenger side fuse block.

Look for that thread and see.
