Diagnostics Port Help

The diagnostics port on my 06 HHR has stopped working. I've plugged 3 different OBD readers into it and none of them can read anything. I have a check engine light on and would liek to find out why. Has anyone else had this problem or ever heard of it?

Give this thread a read.....

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/problems-service-repairs-42/no-obd-2-meters-will-work-my-car-21603/

It may be a scanner compatibility issue.

P.S. to the forum!

Check the fuses. There was a thread a while back that stated one of the fuses supplies power to the port. IIRC it is one of the power outlet/lighter fuses.

Thanks for the quick replies. I've checked every fuse in the car and they are all ok, but that did make me think of something else. The cigarette lighter in the front doesnt work and I'm guessing they are on the same circuit. When I bought the car, the previous owner had a XM receiver and some other stuff installed and he left the power cord and antenna in it. I bet there is a cut/disconnected wire somewhere. I'll do some more checking and let you know what I find

Check fuse #29 in the underhood fuse block. It's listed in the manual as:

"29 LTR 15A-Cigar Lighter and Data Link Connector"

Yup, #29. If your lighter isn't working your obd2 won't either.

Ok, checked the fuse and it's good. I guess I'm going to start pulling the dash apart and see if I can find anything loose or not connected.

How did you check the fuse? Visually or with a volt/ohm meter?

I checked it with the continuity tester on a multimeter
